Mr DeLizza Commissioned Reproductions

In the mid 2000's Cheryl Killmer discovered the connection between the Juliana tag and DeLizza & Elster Corp.  During this same time a fast growing interest in purchasing and collecting D&E jewelry developed. In response, Mr. DeLizza commissioned to have some of their original pieces reproduced.  These are some of the pieces he sold directly to meet that demand and had them available at the 2008 D&E Convention in Tampa.

Some of you are now probably thinking, well how can I tell the reproduction pieces from the original pieces.  Good news on that front.  While the overall design "look" is the same as the originals the
Twisted Wire
construction details are not the same.  You will not see figure 8's. My training file on figure 8's can be found here: https://imageevent.com/kjwshopping/detrainingalbums/figure8training  The cup settings are slightly different.  The wire overs are done with twisted wire.  The pin backs lack the pin stop used in most D&E designs.  My training album on pin backs can be found here: https://imageevent.com/kjwshopping/detrainingalbums/depinstop

The bracelets are done with the linkage at the back. They also have a push in clasp.  My D&E bracelet training can be found here: https://imageevent.com/kjwshopping/detrainingalbums/bracelettrainings/noamnotade5link

More photos of these items and all the pieces from Mr DeLizza's collection have been loaded into an image event album. Mr DeLizza's Collection.

Doreen Ryan Jewelry

After Mr DeLizza closed his factory he wanted to use his expertise to work for other designers.  So he started working with Doreen Ryan.  He says in his book on page 156-157. "For my next venture I adopted another manufacturer and put some of my expertise to work for her, and work it did.  She was a wonderful young lady, Doreen Ryan. With my help she went from being a small-time maker to being a major supplier of belts and jewelry to the industry.  I was very happy for her, and for a couple of years it went very well, but eventually it was too much for her."

These pieces are ones that were designed and manufactured by her company and these were probably given to Mr DeLizza as examples of the designs
they worked on together.

More photos of these items and all the pieces from Mr DeLizza's collection have been loaded into an image event album. Mr DeLizza's Collection.

All of the D&E from Mr DeLizza's collection will also be loaded into the: IsItJulianaJewelry database over the next few months. http://isitjulianajewelry.com/

Next weeks blog will be about the D&E pieces that Mr DeLizza had reproduced around 2007-08.  He had a company remake some of the clear rhinestone
brooches and earrings from the original design sketches.  He sold them on line through his own web site as well as selling them at the Juliana Conference held in Tampa Florida in 2008.
